Sick of '66? How about '67?

For many many many many years Scottish people have complained about how England always harp on about 1966 when they won the biggest prize in world football.

Do we do the same with 1967? Are we hypocrites? Should we..not forget...but play down something that happened over 40 years ago? Do you understand?

England, big nation playing at home, all games played at wembley, home support etc. Etc. Etc.
Celtic, relatively unheard of name in european football, tiny little country, all players from a small radius of the stadium, playing the biggest name in football at the time, massive underdogs, won the european cup, scottish league, scottish cup, league cup, gasgow cup,,, went to do nine in a row, two european cup finals, four semi finals in all, seven ? quarter finals in all, 14 league cup finals in a row, and as the lions were coming to an end celtic were busy producing "the quality street kids" dalglish, mcgrain, hay, paul wiñson, vic davidson, lou macari, george connelly.
This wasnt just a country winning the world cup at home( check it out, that happens regular) this was about, given the resources and circumstances , writing the greatest chapters in the history of any club side in the world.

England were underdogs against previous World Cup champions West Germany, although i suppose they had was home advantage...Celtic weren't at home...but neither were Inter. Also there wasn't a home nation winning the world cup prior since the 30s either.
9IAR is irrelevant and so is the rest you were on about, I'm talking about that particular year.

I'm not saying Englands sucess is in any way more impressive than Celtics. I'm just saying that it's mighty hypocritical saying that England go on and on aobut '66 when we do exactly the same for '67.

    Seems fair.

In honesty I don't often hear either Celtic of England fans bang on about either achievement all that much any more.

Infact, in reflection....Englands world cup win was a far greater achievement, look at the teams they knocked out compared to the teams we played..

    Why? Who'd they knock out?
Can only think of germany and it wasn't even all of germany.
