Thread: Todays CL Draw

Because Shakhtar were beat last night the complexion of tomorrows draw has changed. These are the teams we can play:

Arsenal
Lyon
Sporting
Panathinaikos
Stuttgart

Looks better than before

Arsenal - We're as good as out
Lyon - We have a chance..they've sold some of their top players
Stuttgart - We have a chance...although they are a cracking team
Panathinaikos - We should be able to beat over
Sporting Lisbon - We should be able ot beat

I would say that if we drew Arsenal, we have a decent chance. Not your typical European home and away game by any means, but more of a British derby.

Lyon and Stuttgart I reckon on being much harder over the two legs, as we don not travel well outside of the UK. I need to see more than a flash in the pan to convince me our outrageous away form has turned a corner.

The other two look like more evenly balanced matches.

Really dont care who we draw I am just glad to be still involved.

Well the bonus is; even if we fail to get to the group stages, well still automatically qualify for the Europathingymajig.

Agree about Arsenal.

We have quite a good record against English teams in Europe.

If you take the 2006 results against United

2-3
1-0

We would have went through on the away goal.

Liverpool, Blackburn etc.

Thats right we will at least have some european football after christmas, even if it is the Europa league. Nothing like sitting freezing midweek in January.

Your right but now we are guaranteed european football regardless of the next games results. Although the champions league is where we want to be.

I wouldn't mind a wee away trip to the Emirates but tbf i would rather we didnt draw arsenal!!!

Just gald I have at least 1 more CL home game to get to!
