Thread: Celtic sign Alloa striker Spence

Celtic have signed 17-year-old striker Greig Spence from Alloa Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

It means a switch from the Second Division club's first-team squad to Celtic's under-19 side.

Alloa's website stated: "Although Alloa Athletic didn't want to lose Greig, we did not want to stand in the way of a young player with so much talent.

"It will be impossible for the club to go out and sign a replacement for Greig Spence. He is a unique talent."

Spence, who came through the youth ranks at Recreation Park, made his first-team debut last season and has played three times, scoring once.

However, Alloa say that the transfer is "a move which will allow Greig to develop as a full-time player".

Here`s hoping! Many moons ago it was not that unusual to unearth a gem from Scottish lower leagues e.g. Murdo from Dumbarton, Rambo from Ayr. Anyone know anything about the lad? Bustling centre-forward, nippy wee striker?
