Thread: can anybody help

can anybody tell me the origin of the saying THE TIM MALLOYS
ive heard it shouted in many a place i've shouted it myself.
ive asked many folk but no one seems to know .
my own interpretation is it's from rhyming slang i.e tim = timothy( the huns call us this ). MALLOYS= bhoys.
does anybody know anything different .

as far as I'm aware, it's Tim Alloys , and they were an Irish catholic gang

thats the eplanation my granda gave me when I was a wee bhoy,an irish catholic gang,but it was also rhyming slang for Irish bhoys......hence why we are called TIMS by the beasts..
