Aberdeen have denied rumours they could make a January loan move for Fiorentina's keeper Artur Boruc. Reports in the Polish and Italian press suggested the Dons could make an audacious bid for the former Celtic player, who left the SPL in the summer.
The Polish keeper, who finds himself as number two to Sebastian Frey at the Viola, recently mooted the idea of leaving the Serie A club after failing to dislodge his French team-mate from the starting XI.
Having alerted possible suitors to his availability, Boruc has since been linked with West Ham United, Auxerre, Mainz, Arsenal and Legia Warsaw, the club at which he showcased his ability.
If it came to a bidding war, Aberdeen would not be expected to rival the other clubs in terms of finances. Yet several reports in Italy and Boruc's homeland have suggested the Dons would be interested in taking him to Pittodrie on a short-term deal.
Udinese Nikola Vujadinovic is currently on a season-long loan deal at the club. However, Aberdeen have shot down suggestions they will return to Serie A in a move for Boruc, saying they were flattered to considered as contenders for the keeper's signature, but that they had not initiated any bid.
Celtic paid £1.1 million for Boruc's services in 2000, making a £600,000 profit when he was moved on to Fiorentina in July, replacing him with loan keeper Fraser Forster, who joined from Newcastle United.
