As a manager his signing of players to better the team is seriously in question, which to me shows that he does not have the basics.
Wasting money on substandard players to the extent that he has is not good for a club who like to continually remind fans of the financial constraints they operate within. |

Sadly the passing of Tommy Burns may have been the one real factor that turned things around for us last season. Not to mention the fact Lenny appears to let the players know what's expected of them at Celtic so the timing bringing himin was spot on. He has brought wee McGeady along really well, but seasoned pro's like Jarosik, Gravesen and even Hartley and Brown haven't looked like players they were before they joined the club.
Just to clear things up, no matter what I think of any player or manager, I got to the games and get behind the team 100%. I don't boo or shout dogs abuse, but what I do is get on here and vent my frustrations and express my opinion, because that's what we created this forum for.

3 years of luck is a bit overstated, as i said earlier the huns have a squad of donkeys and they have just let their prize donkey carlos goto villa. Luck has nothing to do with it. |

I know and have heard from plenty of people who are labelled as anti-Strachan.
They don’t dis-like him for not being "Celtic Minded" they are just sceptical about his management.
I feel this not "Celtic Minded" nonsense has grown out of all proportion as the media use it as the main reason for people questioning his management. I am not naive to think that their is nobody that dis-likes him for not being"Celtic Minded” I am sure there are some. However from my perception this reason that is so prominently stated as fact within the media Is such a small percentage of folk it deserves no air time whatsoever.
BTW I never said I knew anything about you I just stated an opinion, if you don’t agree with it then that’s fine. I can do without the tetchiness though

ough. | when you spend 20 minutes creating a thread in order to stimulate some debate and ppl misread into it or just tell me I'm spouting pish, yeh go on the defensives. I'm all for opinion and don't claim mine is the right one, that's what makes forums interesting. We've got 60000 of us watching the same game and more often than not we all "see" it differently.
Hail Hail! and welcome to the forum.

Firstly, as far as criticism of the opposition goes, you can only beat what is in front of you. Yeah Rangesr are rotten; but they did get to the UEFA final and were lauded by the gutter press as at leats a "decent" team. We beat them fair and square (even though thye goalpost were shifted by tyhe SPL).
Secondly, we judge our credibility on how we do in Europe. We have qualified from the Goup Stages of the CL for the last 2 seasons with some more than decent performances (San Siro, Old Trafford) as well as some decent wins against Benfice, Man U etc.
Thirdly, the formation and the passing game; we have stopped lumping it up to the front men and try to pass the ball and open teams up. It doesn't always work (often against a 9 man defence) but it has paid dividends in Europe. I'd rather watch a passing team through the midfield than the long-ball merchants (and we were such a team under MON).
Finally, the signings - Strachan has said quite clearly we need a reality check and he's right! The days of £6 million players is past - we're shopping at Woolworths, not M&S. We pushed the boat out with Brown and he'll come good (and remember his personal tragedy last year must've affected him). Boruc, Nakamura, Hartley, JVoH, McDonald, Robson and Naylor have all been more than decent buys. I believe Hinkel will come good - he is a decent player.
Let's all get behind the team and the manager and look forward to 4 in a row and maybe the last 8 of the CL. Will that stop the doubters? sadly, I think not! |

good points and welcome to the forums.
I don't understand why we can't spend 6m on a player. Clearing out the hangers on should of been a priorty the minute the season ended (i know its easy said then done) but if we got rid of the dead wood thats holding is back wage wise there is no reason why we couldn't fork 6m on a decent european quality player.
6m isn't even much in todays market and i think the crosas deal was an excellent move by the club but we need somoene thats proved themselves and peter lawwell should be working us to be able to splash 6m on a player. |

GS hasn't been given the cash to spend that MON had, so we can't expect the same return, yet he has outperformed MON in his 1st 3 years with much less resources.
His contempt for the press is a positive in my mind, he sees them for the biased scumbags they are and gives them short shrift, I think he is too polite to them and it might not be long before he starts challenging them and asking THEM questions about some of the SH!T£ they print.
MON signed Momo Sylla!!!! And one or two others who were less than spectacular
Donati....talented player, could do a real job for us, needs to be motivated, over to you NL. TO be fair to him he has stated in a recent interview that he loves it here, has knocked back a return to Italy and wants to stay, fight for his place, and prove he can be the star man of our team! If these press comments are true then he has gone up bigtime in my opinion
Gravesen, quality, headless chicken, Strachan has tried to get him to play within a system, he cant do it. His loss.
Roy Keane, regardless of the no of games he played, and how he played in them, his very presence tipped us over the edge to the title that season, brought in cash, got us onto CNN, played a blinder in one game at centre half alongside Bobo who also benfitted from Keano's assistance. Being at training with the other guys on the team etc etc. No matter what the blue tinted press say, it was a great signing and I dare say paid for itself
Strachan has done fantastic work since he got here, can't see us attracting anyone better, so lets get behind him.
Weeman, love the sid the kid avater, what a player he is, someone like that for the hoops would do!!! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
