Total vCash: 4,379.00 | | Celtic BULLY Rangers out of transfer market,Again
Not for the first time in Gordon Strachan’s tenure as Celtic Manager he has stolen yet another potential signing from the Gers. Glenn Loovens is on his way to Paradise via Cardiff City. The 24 year old defender is set to be paraded in Celtic Park sometime on Saturday. It is believed that a fee of 3m pounds was needed to secure the defenders signature.
In all honestly there is mixed bag for this transfer. Firstly it puts a smirk on my stupid face to see us bullying Rangers and pipping them to the post…..AGAIN. No matter how many “he’s crap we didn’t want him anyway” responses you read on rangers forums deep down the rangers will be sick. They are no longer the cheque book kings (overly exaggerated title) they once were and Celtic are the “BIG MONEY” spenders in Scotland these days.
On the other hand I can’t believe that we have spent 3 million pound on a championship player, been hustled by Peter Risdale of all people. Lastly I’ll confess to known absolutely nothing about this player and I’ve yet to read any Tims postings that tell me anything other than his age and how well he played against two tired strikers in Portugal.
As always, Loovens is a Celtic Player now and will get the backing that Crosas got at Celtic Park last weekend. Hopefully the management has seeing something the rest of us have not seeing yet or maybe Rangers are doing are scouting for us now.
Kyle Lafferty, Thomson and Scot Brown and now Loovens were all rangers targets that Celtic went for too. Maybe I’m reading to much into it but it causes a twitch and doesn’t sit right with me that we can develop a late interest in a player that the other side were going for first.
When all is said and done it won’t do big Mick or Gary Caldwell any harm to be looking over their shoulder and playing out of their skin, now please Gord put the same pressure on Mr. Naylor before the window slams shut.
Other Stories Celtic bid knocked back by Cardiff for Loovens? Ridiculous Rumors Crosas Hype Is there any Ger that could get a game at Celtic? Bet Walt Knew. Cuellar-gate investigated. Oh the Rangers are.....Raging Strachan: Love Him or Loath Him?

Good article mate like you I know little about Loovens and hope he turns out to be a 1st class CB for Celtic.
One thing that is for certain is Loovens was not our top target, Tamas and Bassa were obviously targets before him and they are the only ones we know about.
Nothing against Loovens at all but our world wide scouting network is not exactly baring fruit. He may well turn out to be an inspired signing for Celtic but at this moment I am torn like you. Surely Loovens is a player we should have identified long ago he is not exactly playing in an obscure league. This looks like another case of one up man ship, a Rangers target being hijacked to paradise.

I think you'll be VERY happy with him at Parkhead.
A no-nonsense defender. Superb in the air. Not bad on the ground either.
Reads the game well. He'll be worth x3 in no time at all. Once you showcase him in Europe, he'll be worth a small fortune. Gers hard ball tactics have backfired.
God knows how mant times they've watched him?!
Even though he's been plying his trade in the Championship, he is without doubt Premiership quality.
Sad to see him go as his relationship with our other CB Johnson was critical for our promotion aspirations. Well that's us buggered this season!
Be watching out for you this season.
Just keep him out of the Suave Sav on Saturday nights!
Very best wishes,

The player hasn't signed yet and the stumbling block could be a Premiership release clause. If he signs we are getting a better player than we have (IMO) and will more than double our money if we agree a decent release fee in his Premiership release clause which will only be activated after season 2008/09 if the fee is offered..........so we got him for the duration of this season anyway!

I can nearly handle that known it from the start but i wouldn't want an ugly betty situation this time next year. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
