Post Last of the Summer Signings

Will Shaun Maloney’s addition to the Celtic Squad be the last one before the window shuts Sunday at midnight?

Maloney returned to Celtic in a mist of doubt on Thursday and played his first game back for the hoops in a blaze of glory on Saturday against Falkirk, picking up a man of the match award just for good measure. Maloney’s transfer could cost the hoops up to 2.5M pounds

Glenn Loovens was captured on the 16th of August for a fee of around 2.5M pounds. Loovens also staked claim to a starting 11 place with a solid debut against Falkirk on Saturday. No stranger to Celtic Samaras signed on for the hoops this summer proper after a successful loan spell the previous season and fans know exactly what they can expect from the big man. Finally Paddy McCourt arrived from Derry City for an estimated fee of around 150k. It is said McCourt is finding it challenging to bring his fitness up to an SPL level. Someone that knows absolutely nothing about football Roddy Collins reckons that McCourt is a more gifted player than McGeady…Don’t give up the day job Roddy.

So with six days left is Gordon Strachan satisfied with his purchasing? Is he ready to stick the biscuit tin back on the top shelf until January? Or will he surprise us all with one more signing before Sunday?

Strachan has spent approximately just over 6 million this summer. He has taken in roughly 1m pound from Evander Sno’s move to Ajax. He has also freed up 40k a week from Tommy G although that came at a cost of just over 1M pound. Leaving us back around the 6M mark again.

The Champions League draw takes place on Thursday, could the outcome of this push Strachan into another signing or make him stick to what he’s got?
Loads of questions and no answers, at least not until Sunday night. I hear Shaun Wright-Philips has been told he can leave Chelsea, wink wink nudge nudge.
