The English FA launched its new initiative the “Respect Campaign” for the new EPL season. The respect campaign is geared towards making a referee’s job that bit less abusive. Its geared towards players and fans giving referees the benefit of the doubt and accepting that they can make an honest mistake. Stats shown on Sky Sports News have shown already that the issuing of red cards and yellow cards have dropped dramatically already only two games into the English season.
In Scotland 3 games into the new SPL season players, the media and fans that are not connected to Celtic have started their own campaign. This one involves calling every referee/linesman/grounds man invloved in a Celtic game a Celtic Fan. The tables have turned in the paranoia department, Celtic now bring their own refs and officials to all their games, sure how else could they possibly pick up 3 points?
Falkirk whiner Michael Higdon helped the latest campaign by claiming that "the referees do bottle it because they keep making the same mistakes all the time," and claimed that if his team lost then referee Iain Brines's must be a Celtic Supporter.
His claims have been echoed by many a rag over the past 3 weeks. If we want to have a paranoia fest then Celtic Fans are allegedly the kings of paranoia. Which is why I think all of these losers have got together to put pressure for referees to give rangers a few dodgy free kicks, penalties and sending offs on Sunday because they are all blue noses and nobody likes us and nobody wants to see the Celts do four in a row.
In all seriousness I fully expect the ref on Sunday to feel under immense pressure to either not give Celtic some decisions and to favour rangers with any 50/50 decision. Anyone refereeing a Celtic game now knows they are under the spot light and any honest mistake they make will dub them a dirty fenian cheat.
Hopefully I’m wrong but I think the whiners will get their way.
