Where do I start?
The title run in? The SPL and the abomination that is the post split fixtures? Perhaps I should start with the news coming out of England that Celtic and Rangers are now wanted by some of the teams down south.
It seems to crop up every now and then. Old Firm heading for Premiership is the headline you may have read in the last few days, But is this really the case?
I don't believe so, apart from the fact that the majority of EPL clubs do not want to see us in THEIR league the amount of opposition for such a move is too strong for this to be a conceivable idea. Even if it were to get through the initial stages the likes of Fifa and Uefa would soon come calling. It could also put Celtic's European competition status at risk as they would still be classed as a Scottish team and wouldn't be entitled to an English spot if they were to reach such heights.
Yes, Celtic crave a bigger stage on which they would have a level playing field but I believe this scenario to be just another false dawn in a dream Celtic have harboured for years. It's fantasy football!!
Speaking of fantasy football..........
Who do the SPL get to make these post split fixtures? Have they took pity on Fred Goodwin and gave him the chance to really flourish in a job that requires just a little bit of common sense. Done by computer they say, in that case Fisherprice really don't make computers like they used to. At some point these 'Professionals' and I use that term very loosely have to rub all their brain cells together and let common sense prevail. Whilst there are hard fixtures for both teams in the run in, Rangers will be buoyed by the fact that they do not to visit Tynecastle again, a ground they have only visited once this season. These amateurish decisions are becoming tiresome, no wonder we are plotting our escape.
Putting all this aside we are in for a very nervy and exciting end to what has been a sub standard season. Consistency a word that seemed to have got lost in translation after Celtic's winning streak came to an end earlier in the season. A trip to Aberdeen is on the cards next weekend and a chance to put some real pressure on Rangers and get revenge for a 4-2 defeat the last time Celtic visited Pittodre. Three points is a must, picking the correct team another must. No room for error now as we approach what many view as the decider on the 9th of May. That Old Firm game promises to be an absolute cracker, lets hope our experience and winning mentality take us over the line to a fourth consecutive title.
