False dawns, Fixtures, Four in a row

    Where do I start?

The title run in? The SPL and the abomination that is the post split fixtures? Perhaps I should start with the news coming out of England that Celtic and Rangers are now wanted by some of the teams down south.

It seems to crop up every now and then. Old Firm heading for Premiership is the headline you may have read in the last few days, But is this really the case?

I don't believe so, apart from the fact that the majority of EPL clubs do not want to see us in THEIR league the amount of opposition for such a move is too strong for this to be a conceivable idea. Even if it were to get through the initial stages the likes of Fifa and Uefa would soon come calling. It could also put Celtic's European competition status at risk as they would still be classed as a Scottish team and wouldn't be entitled to an English spot if they were to reach such heights.

Yes, Celtic crave a bigger stage on which they would have a level playing field but I believe this scenario to be just another false dawn in a dream Celtic have harboured for years. It's fantasy football!!

    Speaking of fantasy football..........

Who do the SPL get to make these post split fixtures? Have they took pity on Fred Goodwin and gave him the chance to really flourish in a job that requires just a little bit of common sense. Done by computer they say, in that case Fisherprice really don't make computers like they used to. At some point these 'Professionals' and I use that term very loosely have to rub all their brain cells together and let common sense prevail. Whilst there are hard fixtures for both teams in the run in, Rangers will be buoyed by the fact that they do not to visit Tynecastle again, a ground they have only visited once this season. These amateurish decisions are becoming tiresome, no wonder we are plotting our escape.

Putting all this aside we are in for a very nervy and exciting end to what has been a sub standard season. Consistency a word that seemed to have got lost in translation after Celtic's winning streak came to an end earlier in the season. A trip to Aberdeen is on the cards next weekend and a chance to put some real pressure on Rangers and get revenge for a 4-2 defeat the last time Celtic visited Pittodre. Three points is a must, picking the correct team another must. No room for error now as we approach what many view as the decider on the 9th of May. That Old Firm game promises to be an absolute cracker, lets hope our experience and winning mentality take us over the line to a fourth consecutive title.

Celtic play at Pittodrie in 2 weeks time, RB.

Besides that t'was an interesting read. Although the Huns have only to visit Tynecastle once this season, 2-3 years back did they not visit Pittodrie 3 times in one year? Think these things even themselves out.

    Changed that.

Yes this type of thing has been going on since the split was introduced, surely these geniuses could have thought of a fairer or maybe just less silly way to determine the final fixtures

I hope this wasn't aimed at me as at no point did I say there was a conspiracy or even insinuate it.

no not at all R.B., your comments were completely clear and accurate, just a joke about how supporters will see things, me, I just think its the luck of the draw from a crazy system.

we really shouldn't have had to worry about who the huns play and where

One of the posts above mentioned that these things iron themselves out. True.

Nevertheless, what retard would make a product that had to be ironed out before it could be seen to be fair?

Its a shambolic pile of nonsense

To get to BW's post above, I have to disagree. Statiscally, you are more likely to drop points away from home to tougher oppossition than when playing weaker oppossition or playing at home.

    Its that simple.

We have been over again. There are only two teams playing for the title. Us and the huns. By even attempting to bring the hibs v hearts scenario into the equation is a humiliating bared faced lie and affront to the Celtic support.

It comes down to what decision is fairest for the two teams in the running for the title? Nothing all else matters.

All this nonsense that it is irrelevant who plays who because we should be good enough, us nonsense and untrue. Who plays who means everything, where and when they play means everything to.

The quicker we escape this hole of a league the better.

Not backing up the SPL here, but a derby is a derby.
Many times we've been out of the reckoning for the title when playing them, but there is still that hunger to win.
Hibs still have a chance of playing European football, so all is not lost on their part.

At the end of the day the split is a joke, almost as bad as the Dutch League's Champions league qualifing games between 2nd-6th.

It happens most years, and the edinburgh derby is a lot more important to them than the league title is to us.
If the SFA wanted to directly help the huns they could have done it last year and given a ( very fair ) one week extension to the season.
Its not a case of helping us or them its a stupid system in the first place that reduces revenue to the teams who need it most towards the bottom of the table.
one of the biggest problems is so many of our supporters are living in a fantasy world and think everyone is out to try and punish them and make it difficult for us and easy for them, and a bigger fantasy world that the epl are going to invite us into their country for us to enjoy all the benifits their league offers.
