So Mr Caldwell is unhappy at the way his contract talks with the club are progressing. Peter Lawell and the defender seem to have a difference of opinion. Caldo thinks he’s Beckenbauer and Lawell respectfully disagrees. In my opinion I think we have found a worse job than running the Royal Bank of Scotland, being Caldwell’s representatives. I mean how much of a brass neck do you need to have to demand more money for a player who during negotiations scores a goal against the team he plays for. Maybe they are the same representatives who overseen Eduardo’s appeal for him, in that case Caldwell has every right to feel confident about negotiations.
Whilst we will never know the exact amount the defender is demanding, the figure being thrown about is roundabout the 19k per week mark. What? 19k a week you say?!?! To be fair I’ll be happy to offer him that after all he seems to be Celtic’s official press officer.
He has come out and laid down the gauntlet to all the blazers upstairs, he is willing to walk at the end of the season. No need to Gary, I will personally give you a piggy back out of CP if you promise not to come back.
Ok I’m being a bit harsh; I do think he brings some value to the table but not enough to warrant what he is supposedly asking for. I think Caldwell should take a long hard look at himself and lower his demands. If not, well that’s his prerogative and there will not be many, if any, tears shed if he goes.
