Transfer window looming - what would you do?

I think we all realise that come January that barring a complete reversal on the pitch (unlikely I feel), there must be changes at Celtic Park. A lot of these changes reagarding players going out the door, are very likely to be very dependent on how much cash our 'zero debt' obsessed custodians release for players coming in.

Just out of interest in your opinion, who goes and who needs to improve to avoid the heave ?

I'd punt maloney if the money was right and could get someone else in. Skippy would fall in that category as well.

mick and heid obviously.

Fringe players like naylor, flood, killen etc if anyone will have them.

broony and samaras need to really buck their ideas up though, there's players in there but if they cant get it together then i'd add them to the list as well. n'guemo needs to start playing like he wants a deal as well, his passing is woeful at times.

The flags are gaily flying o'er Celtic Park today. Because the lads of Celtic have shown the World the way. They played the game in Lisbon and here is how they won. They didn't play defensive, attack is what they done

First out the door for me would be Scott Brown (injury dependant) - If anyone down south is still interested then we should be biting their hands off.

Next would probably be Boruc - if this is a cash genarating exercise, then yet again we should take cash if it is there on offer - Zaluska seems to be a pretty decent replacement at the moment

There are several minor (or so it appears) or out on loan players that could be shifted out for whatever we can get - at least it would be a small dent in the wage bill - Wilson, Naylor, Brown M, Mizuno, Flood, Sheridan, Killen et al.

Caldwell and McManus need to find new careers because I cant see anyone buying them.

What would the board do if a significant bid comes in for McGeady - would they see Maloney, McGinn, McCourt as adequate cover ?

Then, dependant on Mowbray actually identifying bodies and having a deal on the table, Samaras, McDonald and Fortune should all be watching their backs.

As for those who need to get the finger oot - anyone who survives this hypothetical clear out - main men though -

Hinkel - be more consistent
Maloney - get the head up
McGeady - can't do it all himself (or be allowed to think he can)
Robson - where has the fight gone
Loovens - learn from whoever ends up playing next to you

This is obviously never going to happen on such a large scale - but if even one or two significant moves take place then maybe that will put a rocket under the rest of them

Different debate - but is TM the man to implement these changes???

i agree, he's not a bad player but he's never getting near the team as you say. may as well free up wages if need be.

The way things are going just now, i really don't know. The thing is he's going nowhere, so it looks like he'll need to be.

This is a massive transfer window for Celtic, lets not underplay this.

We are in need of SERIOUS investment to not only to keep Rangers at bay but keep the likes of Dundee Utd and Hibs in there place.

IMO a BIG signing is needed to get arses back on seats again. Who that is, I just don't know.

Caldwell is apparantly linked with fulham, if I were celtic i'd say give us 200k and you can take him in January. Mick is attracting attention from the Championship and a 2 million pound raid isn't out of the question. Bit their hand off. We need a creative player in the middle of the park, as DC pointed out Aiden can't do it himself and Brown has been dissapointing even if it has been down to the injurys he has been carrying.

O'Dea has to HAS to come back from Reading and a no nonsense Defender(Balde-esk) has to come in.

I was left dejected at the weekend, it's just getting proggresively worse.

As for TM being the right man for the job, I don't think anyone could answer that for or against. He has not had much time and he has not got his own team. But he needs to make sure the players he brings in aren't the same calibre as Fortune.

January is perhaps the going to be the biggest month for us in years, first of all we must get a good start by beating rangers. But the incomings and outgoings are going to be mega crucial more than ever before, i feel for mowbray getting so much stick here but when you look through our team the men filling the jerseys have all had good times in the team so why are they all collectively crap at the moment? Im happy with the goalkeepers at the minute but Artur must be kept as number 1 as although zaluska has proven at times he can make the saves required he isnt in the same class as boruc and i was at the evening with boruc on sunday night and he made it clear he wants to be here for the title charge this year and pretty much as long as celtic want him so the balls clearly in celtics court on this one. In defence the whole world knows we need 2 commanding centre backs to come in, would anyone else take a punt on sol campbell? I would also perhaps take Goncalves from hearts as he is big and strong at the back and can also fill in at left back if fox is injured? Matt Kilgallon is another name thats been put to us in the press and having watched him in 4 or 5 games now he seems a pretty decent player! I also think that we would see the best of Hinkel at right back if we had a steady pairing at centre back. In the midfield i feel we are pretty strong although would allow brown and maloney to go if the right offer comes in (brown to spurs in a keane swap deal sounds fantastic) lol andy driver would be a great buy as well, IMO hes better than maloney and that would give us 4 really good wingers, and donati should never have been sold after his start to season weve lost all stability in team since then until perhaps now with crosas and nguemo pairing up, i hear donatis in line to be at world cup and is getting some goals in serie a so that puts my point into perspective. Up top is where we really need a change in more ways than one, i feel for mcgeady and think his final ball is actually better than most would think and if we had a keane figure or someone like sutton or hartson from the past teams then people would realise this as the balls he gets in would be attacked and fought for with a hunger and desire that is clearly missing at the moment, heard Leon Best is a target and he is a pretty good player as well and is on a free at end of season as is Jermaine Beckford of leeds who would bang the goals in up here im certain of that. Might take January and Summer for such wholesale change but a few gd signings in January to start us off get the title and into the champions league would be great, if not theres inevitably going to be thousands empty seats extra in the stand for next year! Finally i read on a middlesbrough website earlier that Heid has agreed a deal with fulham, any truth in that ? Hail Hail KTF
