Mowbray SACKED as Lennon Gets Ready to Steady Ship

Tony Mowbray's 9 month reign as Celtic manager came to an end today after a long meeting at Lennoxtown. It was what everyone expected to happen after the debacle that unfolded in paisley last night. This has been a poor season by any standards but a 4-0 defeat to St Mirren was the final straw for the most patient of Celtic fans.

Tony Mowbray had a tough task from the start, trying to revive a team who had thrown away the league the season before but he never really got a grip of the situation. He made wholesale changes in January and as many have said one too many for the team to be a competitive force. I wish Tony Mowbray all the best for the future; he is a man of dignity and respect and has conducted himself in that manner throughout his tenure.

It is thought that Neil Lennon will be brought in for the rest of the season to steady the ship while a new manager can be found.

Who next for the hot seat?

I can see lenny keeping the job because lennon has the showman ship that tm jst doesnt have. But a would like to thank tm for the effort that he put in even tho the position were in but a do hope he can get back on his feet and i wish him all the luck for the future.

Not sure how you can say that before he's even been in charge of a first team game for us.

    Poorest ever seen

I was giving Mowbray the benefit of the doubt until I was left EMBARASSED watching last nights game. To be fair, the injury situation is bad, but he didn't know how to even start motivating the players after St.Mirren scored, and the substitutions were mind boggling - McGeady left back for gods sake!!! Who is going to take over this shambles?? How can we attract a decent manager in the current climate?? Scottsih Cup is a must, although I think Ross County will fancy their chances, never mind the Arabs!

    New Era!

That result last night cudnt have been excused, no matter the manager in charge..

This ultimately was always going to happen, if it wasnt last nite, or on sat it wudav happened the week after.but it all came to a head last nite.

A new era will beckon out of this, and I for 1 will be rite behind lenny and the team.

THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS DARKEST JUST BEFORE DAWN!!!!!

    hail, hail.
