At the first of these Q&A meetings with Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon it was said by the chief executive that “He would hope” that the managerial situation at Celtic would come to some sort of conclusion in 10 days or less. Well that particular deadline has passed with yet no white smoke, what we have got is more speculation and more bargaining by a Celtic board hell bent on imposing a Director of Football on Lennon.
I am of the opinion that Neil Lennon should be allowed to manage the team on his own terms and live or die by the decisions he makes as manager. This whole mentor situation is getting out of hand with Celtic singling out Stuart Baxter for the post but now embarrassingly locked in a battle with the Finnish FA for his services.
Celtic as a club have not conducted their business well over the past few years and this is now another ridiculous situation they find themselves in.
Neil Lennon and the Celtic fans are in limbo. Why can't we get our house in order, if our financially stricken rivals across the city can, why cant we?
These road shows that Lawwell has hailed as a success so far have been nothing more than a hollow attempt to appease the fans to boost season ticket sales. Nothing more, nothing less.
There are now even articles being published on the Celtic website about fans who have renewed in a bid to get more to follow suit. They have sat and interviewed these fans about how wonderful it is to back your team through thick and thin. Some Celtic fans have got to the point where they want to see the board back the team before they do the same.
When you are charged £500 plus a season in these hard financial times then people are quite entitled to hold off paying their hard earned cash.
What is certain is that this situation can't go on much longer, if nothing is finalised this week Celtic fans will start to grow very restless.
