Mulgrew Set for Shock Return to Celtic

Former Celtic left back Charlie Mulgrew could be set to snub a move to the Championship to take up a second chance with The Hoops.

It has been reported that Mulgrew was on the verge of finalising a deal with Sheffield United this week but new Celtic manager Neil Lennon has made his interest known to the out of contract defender.

This would certainly be a surprise to many but in today's financial markets and the fact Celtic need 2 left backs fighting for the position next season, surely signing the ex bhoy makes good sense.

Mulgrew showed promise in his first spell at the Club having successful loan stints in the process but on a tour of America he and Aiden McGeady were fined by then boss Gordon Strachan for turning up late. There was a resulting spat between him and the Wee Scot and he was subsequently sold to Wolves.

Would be a good signing - a competent left back and a good dead-ball option, but there will have to be decent competition for the position.
    One Neil Lennon.

If he's not being signed for back-up at best then I fear the LB position will again be our weak link.

i agree with u rossco i said on the sigings post that i would prefare wallace as he is the more solid left back mulgrew can put in a good ball and take a mean free kick but i dont think he is the best going back the way,,,

i did say i didnt think he was better than what we had but with naylor now away as a player that is on a free i suppose he would add to the squad BUT i would still be hopeful of bringing one more left back to compete with charlie,,,

IMO i think if we are interested in him it will get done you would think he would much rather sign for us the sheff utd.
    keep the high baws low!!!!

    Lb? Lol!!

If what PL meant by "it'll be worth the wait" was Murphy and Mulgrew, I think he's lost the plot, Lenny his job and is gifting the huns the league AGAIN!!

Look out for next weeks signings- Cuthbert Dibble and Grub with a good chance of Windy Miller in between the sticks!!

    Shocked and stunned CSC

he never should of been let go IMO, for the money we spent on that position we should of just kept him

He would be good cover would like a left back with a bit more quality tbh.

I think he's more of a midfielder than a left tbh, we NEED a solid and consistent left back, but agree would be good for cover.

Lenny might be able to do a job with him. I always thought he had potential never got on with WGS but neither did McGeady
