Scottish Cup quarter-final
Venue: Caledonian Stadium Date: Wednesday, 16 March Kick-off: 19:45
Celtic should be on league duties tonight taking on Hibernian but they find themselves playing a game that should have been settled on Sunday. The cup takes priority so the Celtic players and the fans have to make a long trip up to the highlands for the second time this week to play our cup bogey team. I was at Celtic park that fateful night when the doomed John Barnes regime imploded in front of our eyes. The papers reveled in it, the board had seen enough and Kenny Dalglish was put in temporary charge of the Celtic team. Fast forward to the present day though and Celtic have already sent ICT crashing out of one cup this season with a 6-0 hammering at Celtic Park. The comparisons very night and day.
Inverness do pose a threat if not handled in the right manner. Terry Butcher will have his player’s right up for this one just like Stuart McCall got his average Motherwell to go out and give Celtic a shock in the league. It is important Celtic start well in the Highlands and try to put the game to bed as soon as possible.
It is pivotal that Celtic keep their momentum before the Cup final at the weekend. If the players go out with one eye on the final they will get the rug pulled from underneath them. I think Celtic will win this maybe by the odd goal.
Team News: Hooper is back fit and could feature from the start. Mark Wilson and Scott Brown both miss out through suspension which could see the forgotten Juarez get a start. Big Dans injury means Rogne comes back into the fold.
